气膜结构建筑不同于传统空间结构建筑，它是一个相对密闭的空间结构，需要通过风机向结构内鼓风送气，使气膜内外保持压力差，以使得膜结构体系的刚度，维持所设计的形状。同时压力控制系统可使结构维持内外压，从而形成结构稳定性。那么气膜建筑停电时会很快塌陷吗？
答案是不会很快塌陷的。先不提气膜建筑设计有相应的备用发电机系统，气膜场馆面积都是相对较大，一旦发生意外致严重漏气，气膜完全塌陷下来也需要30分钟以上。另外，气膜建筑停电后，备用发电机开始接管工作。一旦断电，风机失去动力时，备用发电机会自动启用，让充气膜建筑场馆的正常运行，当电供应正常时，又会自动停机。所以，即便停电了，气膜建筑也会正常运转，不会出现很快塌陷。
